Agriculture 100 & 200 hrs

Agriculture is offered as both a 100 hr and 200 hr course. Students consider the growth and production of plants and animals and use appropriate production skills to plan and use resources sustainably and evaluate and report on their progress.

Students develop practical skills in maintaining animal and plant production and research the latest technological innovations within the field of agriculture.

The course has some hands-on practical components where students will be expected to grow plants in small containers/ pots and garden beds. There is an optional opportunity for raising poultry and learning the fundamentals of bee keeping. Practical work will help students develop skills in organising, problem solving, planning, managing, measuring, maintaining records and report writing

This subject is designed to prepare students for Primary Industries Certificate II in Agriculture in year 11 and 12.

Marine Studies 100 hrs

Marine studies is a subject where students get to explore all aspects of different marine environments and begin to develop an appreciation of the value these marine environments bring to our world.

Students complete a mandatory core at the beginning of the year which is a practical based unit that looks at human’s interactions with marine environments and how to safely use them.

There is also a wide variety of other modules that are available to study. Each year modules are selected based on the interests of students. Modules include things such as surfing, fishing, and dangerous marine creatures.

The diverse nature of this subject allows for a wide selection of learning activities including lots of hands on learning, and water based activities.
