Creative & Performing Arts
Dance 100 hrs
This course is for students interested in exploring ‘dance as an art form’. Students develop knowledge, understanding, skills, values and attitudes through the interrelated experiences of performing, composing, and appreciating. Through the practices of performance, composition, and appreciation students will learn about the distinctive ways in which they can express their own experiences. They also learn about the development of cultural meanings and artistic traditions.
Drama 100 hrs
The Drama class is active, on your feet learning. It is designed for students with an interest in acting, directing, scriptwriting and performing. It provides an exciting platform for personal exploration and social criticism; it is fun to make and entertaining to observe. Drama offers a unique means of enquiry that helps students know and understand themselves and their world. You will learn a range of transferrable skills that support innovative thinking, creativity, and gain excellent communication skills. You will learn about the history of theatre and experiment with different theatrical styles. You will work as part of a creative team to devise theatrical experiences, engage with production elements such as costume, lighting and promotional design and be offered performance opportunities. Excursions to the theatre are a must!
Music 200 hrs
Students will study music from a number of different topics including Rock Music and Popular Music, Australian 70s Music, 20th &21st Century Music, Music Technology, Film Music and music of cultures from around the world through performing, composing and listening. The focus will be on further development of technical skills with the incorporation of cultural techniques studied. Students must be willing to experiment with different forms of improvisation to develop their abilities and be prepared to work individually and in groups.
Photography 100 & 200 hrs
If you enjoy practical, hands on courses and want to learn how to make your photographs, digital images or video’s stand out, then this course is for you. We will walk you through the fundamentals of using these technologies in this 1 or 2 year course. When you elect either course, you will be able to re-elect the subject the following year and you will never study the same thing twice. The greatest part of your time in the Photography course will be spent mastering skills in practical interactive lessons that allow you to explore unlimited creative possibilities.
The course offers you opportunities to create short films, use traditional SLR film cameras and process photograms, pinhole images and photographs in the darkroom. You will also be taught Digital photography using digital SLR cameras and Photoshop to enhance or transform your images. We encourage experimentation and imagination with support and feedback and hope you enjoy this amazing subject.
Visual Arts 100 & 200 hrs
Do you love hands-on, practical work, being creative and experimenting with new materials and ideas? Then this subject is for you!
The greatest part of your time in this Visual Arts course will be spent on art making and learning new skills under the guidance of expert teachers.
So, ignite your imagination, kindle your curiosity, explore exhibitions and discover new ways of thinking about the world we live in by exploring the wonder of art and ideas in this 1 or 2 year course. These courses have the same content, so rest assured, when you elect either course, you won’t study the same thing twice.
Our course is flexible, aiming to target your interests in materials and ideas, while encouraging experimentation and providing space to create, make and play.
