Child Studies 100 & 200 hrs
Child Studies is either a 100 hour or 200 hour course which aims to develop in students the knowledge, understanding and skills to:

support a child’s development from pre-conception through to and including the early years
-
positively influence the growth, development and wellbeing of children
-
consider the external factors that support the growth, development and wellbeing of children
-
research, communicate and evaluate issues related to child development.
In Year 9 students will study a range of modules linked to play and child development. Students will be responsible for planning, promoting and running the APHS Playgroup.
In Year 10 students will follow the journey from conception, pregnancy & birth to caring for a newborn. They will gain practical experience through involvement in the Realcare Baby simulation program.
Physical Activity and Sports Studies 100 & 200 hrs
The Physical Activity and Sports Studies (PASS) course has both a theory and practical component and can be studied as either a 100 hour or a 200 hour course.
The PASS course aims to enhance students’ capacity to participate effectively in physical activity and sport, leading to improved quality of life for themselves and others.
Students engage in a wide range of physical activities in order to develop key understandings about how and why we move and how to enhance quality and enjoyment of movement.
