PDHPE
The Stage 6 PDHPE course is a 2 unit, ATAR subject which is predominantly theory based with some practical applications. The course builds upon the understanding gained throughout PDHPE in Years 7-10, with skills being developed in analysing information, planning, problem solving, using technology, working in teams and communicating ideas and information.
The Year 11 Preliminary course consists of two core modules focusing on improving the health of individuals and looking at how the body moves. The two options studied look at different fitness options and first aid procedures.
The Year 12 HSC course consists of two core modules focusing on health priorities in Australia and the factors that affect performance. The two options studied cover how to improve performance and the health of young people.
Community & Family Studies
The beauty of studying CAFS is that there are no rights or wrongs. We all live our own lives and have different life experiences, and through our discussion and study in this course, our identity as young individuals in our society will emerge.
Within CAFS we will look at personal skills such as organisation, planning, decision-making and communication, as well as the different roles we play in groups. The relationships we have with others', leadership, conflict resolution and family structures are also a focus of our work.
In Year 12, we will study the groups in our society who are marginalised, as well as issues relating to parenting and caring and the workplace.
Put simply, CAFS is a study of real life - of which YOU are your own expert.
