Mathematics

Mathematics Standard

Standard Mathematics is a challenging course that develops the skills to solve real world problems. It includes algebraic skills, financial mathematics, measurement, trigonometry, probability, statistics and network analysis. This course is aimed at students that have achieved commendable results in Year 10. For Year 12, the course splits into Mathematics Standard 2 (ATAR) – for those who may have aspirations in entering university to study in the fields of Humanities, Nursing and Paramedical Sciences, and Mathematics Standard 1 – for those who still require mathematical skills for carers or further vocational learning.

Mathematics Advanced

Mathematics Advanced is a challenging course. It is a calculus based course, which also includes very high level algebraic skills, trigonometry, probability and statistics. This course is aimed at students that have achieved excellent results in Year 10 Stage 5.3 (the 10Math1 class), who may have aspirations in entering university to study in the fields of Life Sciences, Business, Finance, Technology or Education.

Mathematics Extension

Mathematics Extension 1 builds on top of the Mathematics Advanced course. This is a very challenging course. It is a calculus based course, which also includes very high level algebraic skills, trigonometry, probability, statistics and vector analysis. This course is aimed at students that have achieved exceptional results in Year 10 Stage 5.3 (the 10Math1 class), who may have aspirations in entering university to study in the fields of Applied and Pure Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering and Computing Sciences.
