Japanese Beginners
This course is designed for students who wish to begin their study of Japanese in Year 11. It is only for students with no prior knowledge of the Japanese language other than Year 7. Students should choose this subject if they have an interest in learning languages. The benefits of studying a second language are enormous and are not only restricted to travel. Many students combine degrees with languages at a tertiary level, which opens up wide opportunities both in Australia and overseas. Some universities offer bonus points for students who gain a band 4 or higher in the HSC. Students will explore a range of topics through the four key skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Choose this course and you will soon be conversing in Japanese.
Japanese Continuers
This course is designed for students who have studied Japanese in Year 9 and 10 and have an interest in learning languages. It is assumed that students will have a knowledge of hiragana, katakana and basic grammatical structures. The benefits of studying a second language are enormous and are not only restricted to travel. Many students combine degrees with languages at a tertiary level, which opens up wide opportunities both in Australia and overseas. Many employers offer pay incentives to employees who are competent speakers of a second language. Some universities offer bonus points for students who gain a band 4 or higher in the HSC. Students will build on developing their knowledge of the Japanese language through the four key skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
