HSIE

Aboriginal Studies(Academy)

Australia is home to the oldest living Indigenous culture in the world. Through the lens of national and international Indigenous communities, students investigate various legislation and government policies that have impacted Indigenous peoples. Aboriginal Studies is a 2 unit academic course with a strong Social Justice theme throughout. The major project in the HSC is designed and created by you, relating to any topic studied within the course – your design, your choice, your medium. Aboriginal Studies provides opportunities for on country experiences with Traditional Aboriginal Custodians. For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students there is the opportunity to engage further with their own culture.

New Course

In the event that we are unable to offer Aboriginal Studies as a stand alone course at APHS, students will have the opportunity to study Aboriginal Studies as part of an academy in conjunction with Dapto HS.
