Albion Park High School
Senior Subject Selections 2020
Creative Arts
Dance
In the Preliminary course, students study dance as an artform with a focus on the three areas of performing, composing and appreciating. The knowledge that students gain in Year 11 provides the fundamentals of dance as an artform. In the HSC course, students continue their study in the three core components and choose a major study from the following options; performance, composition, appreciation, and dance and technology. This component will make up 40% of their mark for the subject.
Drama
What do you want to achieve when you finish your HSC? Regardless of what type of employment or study you wish to pursue, you will need the confidence to push yourself out of your comfort zone, plan your pathway to success to interview well for that job, and reach your goals. Drama in the senior years offers a variety of projects to explore your own world – it is not just about acting. There are three components: the study of plays and their significance, a group project that is performance-based (on a topic that you are passionate about) and an individual project in Performance, Costume or Set Design, Scriptwriting, Video Drama or a critical research paper. Drama is rewarding, hard work and, most importantly, a lot of fun.
In the event that we are unable to offer Drama as a stand alone course at APHS, students will have the opportunity to study Drama as part of the Drama Academy in conjunction with Dapto High School.
Music 1 & 2
Music 1 builds on the Years 7-10 Mandatory course. It caters for students who have diverse musical backgrounds and musical interests, including those with an interest in popular music.
